3i - 1 Knightsbridge
The art collection at 1 Knightsbridge reflects 3i’s commitment to transformation, resilience, and expertise, brought to life through a curated selection of contemporary works
Sue Arrowsmith’s works often explore the shifting rhythms, textures, and colors of the natural world. By immersing herself in nature and translating its nuances into abstract compositions, Arrowsmith reflects transformation as a process of deep observation and reinterpretation
Guided by the themes of Momentum & Transformation, Resilience, and Illuminating Expertise, each artwork in 3i’s collection was selected to reflect the dynamic nature of the company’s vision. The pieces embody movement, evolution, and change, mirroring the ever-shifting investment landscape in which 3i operates. At the same time, they speak to the enduring strength of resilience, where adaptability and innovation reinforce stability.
Set within a newly designed space by MCM, the collection enhances the environment while creating a stimulating experience for employees and visitors. Here, art becomes a powerful expression of purpose, ambition, and enduring values.
To bring the theme of Resilience vividly to life within 3i’s boardroom, we selected a series of historic platinum-palladium prints by renowned Australian photographer Frank Hurley, documenting Sir Ernest Shackleton’s legendary Antarctic expedition aboard the Endurance. These rare and evocative images were chosen not only for their extraordinary aesthetic and archival value, but for the profound story they tell—one of survival, leadership, and unyielding human spirit in the face of extreme adversity.
Hurley’s photographs capture moments of stark beauty and brutal challenge
Nick Archer’s haunting landscapes and depictions of deserted homes evoke a profound sense of psychological endurance. His imagery often explores estrangement from nature and the loss of a once-familiar world, reflecting the emotional and existential resilience required to navigate uncertain terrain.
Through his layered technique of pouring and building transparent veils of paint, Archer creates works in constant flux. The process reflects transformation itself; gradual, complex, and evolving over time.
Pockley’s mastery of light and tone, inspired by Turner, Monet and Rothko, reveals a refined artistic intelligence. Her ability to transform complex urban narratives into ethereal compositions reflects a clear strategic vision and insight.
“This collection reflects the spirit of 3i; forward-thinking, resilient, and deeply strategic.”
“The art not only enhances our space at 1 Knightsbridge, it also serves as a daily reminder of the values that drive us: adaptability, insight, and purposeful transformation.”
