Sherrie-Leigh Jones
Blending the poetic sensibilities of the romantic sublime with the refined aesthetics of Japanese printmaking, Sherrie-Leigh-Jones conjures imagined landscapes that transport viewers into atmospheric realms of calm, light, and natural wonder.
Jones creates limited edition and original landscape prints inspired by nature, travel, and changing seasons. Her work offers the viewer a sense of escapism, transporting them to a new place and taking them on a journey through imagined landscapes. Jones is particularly inspired by traditional Japanese and Chinese landscape paintings and prints, such as Sansuiga (Japan) or Shanshui (China), which depict an idealised landscape primarily using the forms of mountains, rivers, clouds, and mist.
Her creative process involves the assembling of collages using her travel photographs, and photos taken on walks in the English countryside, which are then combined with paintings. The finished compositions are then taken into the print studio to be exposed on screens and hand pulled as screenprints; resulting in the final artworks. Her work is hand printed using the cellulose transfer printing technique.

“Screen printing is naturally what I became drawn to after lots of experimenting. Printmaking in general is quite a process led art form and I really enjoy the different stages of screen printing, from coating and exposing screens, mixing inks, and pigments, to pulling the squeegee and seeing my creations come to life on paper.”
