Robert Hind
Hind’s work explores the relationship between nature and the human experience; his pieces convey a sense of spirituality and transcendence. Hind feels a sense of awe within the natural landscape, and in this series of works we see him transform the humble tree into a secular icon.

Robert Hind lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Hind’s work foregrounds the natural world, particularly cherry trees, Scots pines and wild flora, which he captures in a way that highlights their meditative solitude. He experiments with alternative mediums, inspired by Buddhist and Byzantine art, he employs gold leaf to add a sense of reverence and to venerate the value of nature. Hinds incorporates birds into his compositions, leaving vacant space above his landscapes to draw attention to the vastness of the natural world.
“I like the idea of an artwork charging and maturing as it sits on a person’s wall. We as people change and develop, why shouldn’t art? As viewers we often get used to pictures just being there, we almost stop looking at them after a while. However, if that picture keeps changing, albeit very slowly over a period of many years, hopefully the viewer’s awareness and enjoyment of it is elongated.”
