Richard Elliot
My painting practice has frequently looked at communal architecture, often privately owned and scrupulously maintained, polished and cleaned to present an untouched world.
Richard Elliot was commissioned by Freshfields to create a series of watercolours capturing St Brides Church. St Brides is one of the most famous and most fascinating historic churches in Central London and a stone’s throw to Freshfields’ Fleet Street offices. The building’s most recent incarnation was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1672 in Fleet Street in the City of London. Standing 226 feet (69m) high, it is the second tallest of all Wren’s churches, with only St Paul’s itself having a higher pinnacle.
Elliot’s work can be found in numerous UK collections, including Prebon Marshall & Yamane Ltd, Zeneca, English Heritage, National Trust, Sir Jocelyn Stevens, Singer and Friedlander and Manchester City Art Gallery.
Elliot lives and works in London.
