Elizabeth Kent

Elizabeth Kent is a British artist whose practice explores the dynamic interplay between light, material, and perception.

Inspired by the observation of light interacting with natural forms - including reflection and spatial dualities - her work invites viewers into a shifting visual experience where surface and depth continually oscillate.

Shaded Reflections is part of an ongoing body of work that intertwines historic forms of mirror-making with contemporary industrial processes for cutting and etching glass. Kent’s approach is rooted in experimentation, combining traditional techniques such as hand-silvering and verre églomisé with visual ideas developed through drawing and photography. The result is a visually ‘live’ surface, one that responds to its environment and actively involves the viewer in its unfolding.

At Oxford North, Shaded Reflections becomes a shared experience, responding to light, movement, and the presence of those who enter the space. It reflects the spirit of innovation and community, inviting viewers to engage with the work and with each other in a constantly evolving dialogue.

"Shaded Reflections explores how light transforms material and perception. The piece invites viewers into a shifting dialogue between surface and depth, past and present, self and environment."
