Allen Forsythe
Allen Forsyth’s abstract works reinterpret natural forms through a highly stylised, contemporary visual language. Rather than documenting specific subjects, his practice distils moments of light, colour and movement into compositions that sit between recognition and abstraction. By removing clear spatial or environmental references, Forsyth invites viewers to experience nature as sensation rather than depiction.
Working with a range of photographic and camera‑less techniques, Forsyth transforms organic source material into radiant, immersive images. Layers of colour, rhythm and luminosity create a sense of motion and depth, allowing abstraction to become a means of emotional and visual clarity. His works hover between the natural and the constructed, offering a meditative encounter with form, energy and perception.

“I’m less interested in recording what something looks like than in translating how it feels. Abstraction allows me to move away from description and towards sensation, light, colour, rhythm, and energy become the subject. Often the process involves stripping away context until the image exists on its own terms. That ambiguity is important to me; it gives the viewer space to slow down, to respond intuitively, and to experience the work rather than decode it.”
